First trout of the year! It was still cold out on April 8th when this guy took a Lafontaine caddis pupa just below a small waterfall. It was amazing to hold him after her made it all winter in his small stream pool. He was happy to go back to eating bugs under his waterfall.
His pool was about 8'x8' with waterfalls on both sides. This fish was probably was all wild New Hampshire brook trout genes. He was a special way to start of a great summer of fishing.
Mia and I explored this stream for the first time on this trip.
Here is the pool he was in, a tiny trib of the Connecticut River near Hanover NH.
